Overview

Connect Trello to give AI clients access to your boards, lists, and cards for project management. This is the hosted Trello MCP integration for Claude, ChatGPT, Cursor, and other MCP clients — no self-hosted server required.

Common use cases

  • Trello connector for AI agents — list boards, search cards, and update work items from chat.
  • Card attachments — list, get, create (URL, base64, or Temp Storage file_id), rename, and delete attachments on cards.
  • Trello OAuth MCP — approve access once; stackgate.ai stores and refreshes credentials securely.
  • Private gateway — combine Trello with Gmail, Airtable, and other integrations through one governed endpoint.

Prerequisites

  • A Trello account with boards you want AI to access
  • A stackgate.ai account

Getting credentials

  1. Sign in to stackgate.ai.
  2. Go to Integrations and open Trello.
  3. Click Activate, then Connect Trello.
  4. Approve the OAuth prompt — stackgate.ai stores your Trello token securely.

No manual API keys are required.

Using with AI clients

  • Dedicated endpoint: POST /mcp/trello with a Sanctum bearer token
  • Private gateway: one config for all integrations — use trello__* namespaced tools

Troubleshooting

  • 422 integration not configured — complete the OAuth connect flow in My Integrations.
  • Token expired — disconnect and reconnect Trello from the integration page.

    List Trello boards accessible to the connected account, filterable by open or closed status.

    List all lists on a Trello board.

  • list_labels

    List labels available on a Trello board.

  • list_cards

    List cards on a Trello board or list. Provide either board_id or list_id.

  • get_card

    Get full details for a Trello card.

  • create_card

    Create a new card on a Trello list.

  • update_card

    Update a Trello card name and/or description.

  • move_card

    Move a Trello card to another list.

  • archive_card

    Archive (close) a Trello card.

  • add_card_comment

    Add a comment to a Trello card.

  • add_label_to_card

    Add a label to a Trello card.

  • remove_label_from_card

    Remove a label from a Trello card.

  • list_card_attachments

    List attachments on a Trello card.

  • get_card_attachment

    Get metadata for a specific attachment on a Trello card.

  • create_card_attachment

    Attach a URL or file to a Trello card. Provide exactly one of url, file_base64, or temp storage file_id. Optional name, mime_type, and set_cover.

  • update_card_attachment

    Rename a Trello card attachment.

  • delete_card_attachment

    Delete an attachment from a Trello card.
