Overview

Look up Pokémon TCG printings, sets, series, and prices from TCGdex. Search by name or by card filters, then open one printing by its TCGdex card id or by set id and card number. Market data includes Cardmarket prices in EUR and TCGplayer prices in USD, split by variant.

No TCGdex account or API key is required.

Pokémon and Pokémon TCG are trademarks of Nintendo, Creatures, and/or GAME FREAK. This integration is not affiliated with or endorsed by Nintendo, The Pokémon Company, or TCGdex.

This is not PokéAPI. PokéAPI covers the video games. This integration covers the trading card game.

Prerequisites

  • A stackgate.ai account

Getting credentials

  1. Open Integrations → Pokémon TCG.
  2. Click Activate - no API key is needed.

stackgate.ai identifies itself to TCGdex with a hub User-Agent (support@stackgate.ai). For heavier use, you may store a contact email on the integration so requests use your own identifier and bypass the shared hub fair-use quota.

Using with AI clients

  • Dedicated endpoint: POST /mcp/pokemon-tcg
  • Private gateway: pokemon-tcg__* tools

Typical workflow:

  1. search_pokemon_cards by name, or by a filter such as type, HP, stage, rarity, regulation mark, category, illustrator, Pokédex id, or legality (standard or expanded). Add set_id (a TCGdex set id such as swsh3) and number when you already know the printing.
  2. Several rows can share a name. Use the returned id to tell printings apart. Do not pick a printing from the name alone.
  3. get_pokemon_card with card_id, or with set_id and number. The card includes attacks, abilities, weaknesses, resistances, retreat, legality, regulation mark, and booster membership. Prices stay on get_pokemon_card_market.
  4. get_pokemon_card_market with the same card_id, or the same set_id and number.
  5. find_pokemon_printings with a national dex_id when you need every English printing, including set, number, rarity, and Standard or Expanded legality.
  6. list_pokemon_sets and get_pokemon_set to learn set ids. list_pokemon_series and get_pokemon_series browse eras. TCG Pocket is series id tcgp.
  7. list_pokemon_card_facets returns the short filter indexes (types, stages, rarities, regulation marks, categories, trainer types, energy types). Pass those exact values back to search.

rarity is the printed category, such as Uncommon. It is not a print-run count. A missing price is the string unavailable, not zero. A numeric 0 is a real price.

A card number without set_id is matched after search and still needs a name. set_id plus number returns that printing even when the name is omitted. find_pokemon_printings reads the English catalog.

Supported languages: en, fr, es, it, pt, de, ja, zh-tw, id, th. The default is English.

Troubleshooting

  • Hub quota exceeded (429) - daily fair-use limits apply on the shared hub identity. The facet index counts as two calls. Wait until tomorrow or add an optional contact email on the integration.
  • Record not found - search first, then pass the TCGdex card id (such as swsh3-136), set id, or series id. A name alone is not one printing.
  • Price is unavailable - TCGdex has no price for that variant. It is not a price of zero.
  • Cached results - catalog data is cached for about 12 hours and prices for about 1 hour. A set checklist is cached once and paged in the hub. Reuse a result in the conversation instead of calling the same tool in a loop.
  • Attribution - card data and prices come from tcgdex.dev.

Available tools

  • search_pokemon_cards

Search Pokémon TCG printings. Filter by name, set_id, number, type, hp_min, hp_max, stage, rarity, regulation_mark, category, illustrator, dex_id, or legal (standard or expanded). Rows that share a name are different printings; use id for the next call. A number without set_id is matched after search and still requires a name. set_id plus number returns that printing. Never send localId.

  • get_pokemon_card

Get one Pokémon TCG printing by card_id, or by set_id and number. Returns attacks, abilities, weaknesses, resistances, retreat, HP, types, evolution, stage, dex ids, description, regulation mark, Standard and Expanded legality, illustrator, category, and booster membership, plus name, number, set, printed rarity, image, and variants. Prices stay on get_pokemon_card_market. A name alone is not a printing.

  • get_pokemon_card_market

Get Cardmarket prices in EUR and TCGplayer prices in USD for one printing, by variant. Pass card_id, or set_id and number. A missing price is unavailable, not zero. A numeric 0 is a real price.

  • find_pokemon_printings

Find English printings of one national Pokédex id. Each row includes set, number, printed rarity, image, and Standard and Expanded legality. Use this when search briefs are not enough to tell printings apart. Page through results (default 20, max 100).

  • list_pokemon_sets

List Pokémon TCG sets. Optional name (substring) and series_id (such as swsh). Each row includes the TCGdex set id used as set_id on search and card lookups.

  • get_pokemon_set

Get one set by set_id, including release date, series, Standard and Expanded legality, finish counts, and a page of card briefs. The full set is cached and cards are paginated in the hub (default 50, max 100).

  • list_pokemon_series

List Pokémon TCG series (eras), including TCG Pocket as tcgp. Optional name filters the cached list. Use the id with get_pokemon_series or as series_id on list_pokemon_sets.

  • get_pokemon_series

Get one series by series_id, including its sets. TCG Pocket is series id tcgp on this same catalog.

  • list_pokemon_card_facets

List short card indexes: types, stages, rarities, regulation marks, categories, trainer types, and energy types. Use these exact values as search_pokemon_cards filters. Does not include illustrators or Pokédex ids.
