Overview

Read and send email through Outlook Mail on connected Microsoft accounts via Microsoft Graph.

Prerequisites

  • A Microsoft account with Outlook Mail
  • A stackgate.ai account
  • For work/school accounts, IT admin consent may be required before connect

Getting credentials

  1. Open My Integrations → Outlook Mail.
  2. Click Activate, then Connect Outlook Mail.
  3. Complete Microsoft OAuth.

Personal @outlook.com accounts can connect directly. Work accounts may need your IT administrator to grant admin consent for the stackgate.ai app first.

Outlook Mail is a separate connect from Outlook Calendar — activate and connect each integration independently.

Set store_in_temp_storage=true on download_attachment to store an attachment in Temp Storage and receive a file_id for cross-tool handoff. Requires Temp Storage activated on My Integrations.

Troubleshooting

  • Admin approval required — ask your IT admin to grant tenant consent for stackgate.ai in Microsoft Entra.
  • Auth errors — reconnect Outlook Mail from My Integrations.
  • Send failures — verify the connected account has permission to send from the requested address.

Available tools

  • list_mail_folders

    List Outlook mail folders for the connected mailbox, including Inbox, Sent Items, and Drafts.

  • list_messages

    List or search Outlook messages in the connected mailbox. Returns message IDs and metadata; use get_message for full content.

  • get_message

    Get an Outlook message by ID, including headers, body, and attachment metadata.

  • download_attachment

    Download an Outlook attachment by message ID and attachment ID. Returns metadata plus embedded binary content for files under 10 MB, or a resource_link for larger files (fetch bytes via resources/read). Pass mime_type and filename from get_message attachments when available. Set store_in_temp_storage=true to store in temp storage and receive a file_id for cross handoff.

  • send_message

    Send an email from the connected Outlook account. Supports plain text or HTML body.

  • modify_message

    Move an Outlook message to another folder and/or mark it read or unread. Use list_mail_folders to discover folder IDs.
