Overview

Read and write notes through Notes.app on your Mac. Requires the stackgate.ai desktop app.

Prerequisites

  • macOS with Notes.app and notes you want AI to access
  • A stackgate.ai account
  • The stackgate.ai desktop app installed and signed in

Getting credentials

  1. Open Integrations → Apple Notes on stackgate.ai (the hosted site — you do not run stackgate.ai locally).
  2. Click Activate and set preferences (default account, trash folder).
  3. Download and install the stackgate.ai desktop app.
  4. Sign in to the desktop app with your stackgate.ai account to sync credentials.
  5. In the desktop app menu, choose Configure Cursor or Configure Claude — or copy the MCP config from Local devices on the website.

Apple Notes has no cloud API — tools execute on your Mac via the desktop app.

Using with AI clients

  • Desktop app only — the desktop app runs a local MCP gateway on your Mac. Cloud HTTP (/mcp/private) does not include Apple Notes.
  • Namespaced toolsapple-notes__* tools are available through the desktop app's MCP connection alongside other local integrations.

After sign-in, manage paired devices under Local devices on the website.

Troubleshooting

  • Automation denied — grant Notes automation permission in System Settings → Privacy & Security → Automation.
  • No tools in cloud gateway — expected; use the desktop app instead.
  • Notes not syncing — refresh credentials from the desktop app tray menu.
